This piece was sketched whilst at the Royal Academy, attendance at which Caro was expected to maintain alongside his mentorship with Moore – albeit in a minimal capacity. Caro noted how Moore ‘grasped the pose and showed me how to express it even though he hadn’t seen the model’.
