Although completed in 1961 this piece is reminiscent of Moore’s abstract sculptures of the female body that took shape during the 1930s – where almost all of his work alludes to the female figure, and at which point he was influenced by the Surrealists.
Moore’s works are on display in
public collections including Tate Britain, London; The Hepworth Wakefield,
Wakefield; Peggy Gugenheim Collection, Venice; Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds; Henry
Moore Institute, Leeds; MoMA, New York; Getty Centre, Los Angeles.
