Hugo Dalton's work stems from a commitment to site specific drawing of the natural world. On graduation from Goldsmiths College he became known for large scale wall paintings, created for clients such as the Royal Horticultural Society, Tiffany & Co. New York and Liberty of London.
Dalton’s works have a strong educational emphasis, allowing the viewer both enjoy their refined
visual form and be informed of each work's unique inspiration. He is currently the artist in residence at Rothamsted Research, the UK leading agricultural research institute and has staged exhibitions of this work at Fishmongers Hall, London and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, as well as exhibiting at Frieze Art Fair in support of Platform Earth where he used a unique carbon capture ink.
Dalton’s projected light installations have transformed spaces such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Château Versailles, The Royal Opera House and Sadler’s Wells Theatre. He has been the recipient of the Wallpaper* Design Award and is currently collaborating with the Royal Collections Trust, Windsor.
Critic Edward Luce Smith termed his work “….a rebellion towards elegance.”
